Meet the New Nobel Laureates!
Twelve new people join the distinguished ranks of Nobel Laureates now numbering 809. Once again the scope of awarded discoveries takes us on a journey, from international trade and the source of global epidemics at one extreme, to glowing jellyfish proteins and particle physics at the other.

To Harald zur Hausen, Françoise Barré-Sinoussi and Luc Montagnier for discoveries of viruses linked to disease.
Chemistry
To Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien for developing tools for revealing the workings of the cell.
Peace
To Martti Ahtisaari for striving for peace, reconciliation and a resolution to international conflicts.
Physics
To Yoichiro Nambu, Makoto Kobayashi and Toshihide Maskawa for discoveries concerning nature's broken symmetry.
Literature
To Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, cross-cultural citizen and writer.
Prize in Economics
To Paul Krugman for his analyses of international trade and economic
geography.
