Daniel McFadden talks about growing up on a North Carolina farm without electricity or running water, transitioning from graduate studies in experimental physics to social psychology and then choice behaviour economics (3:34), approaching economic enquiry as an engineer (11:46), and his current research in healthcare (18:19). He also discusses the 'Tower of Babel' problem between disciplines (30:19), the emerging field of neuroeconomics (32:51) and his life since being awarded the Nobel Prize (38:22).
