The Nobel Prize Concert is a concert of classical music of the highest international standard arranged every year by Nobel Media in cooperation with the Stockholm Concert Hall.
The concert is part of the official program of Nobel Week and held primarily to honor the year's Nobel Laureates, in the presence of the Nobel Laureates and their parties, the Swedish Royal Family and the guests of the Nobel Foundation. The general public is also offered the opportunity to attend. The concert takes place on December 8 each year, and is externally financed through sponsorship and partnerships.
Music has always played a major part in the Nobel context and the concert concept follows in the tradition of the Nobel Concerts held in the 1990s and the Centennial Concert in 2001, on the occasion of the 100 th anniversary of the Nobel Prize.
In cooperation with Euro Arts, Nobel Media produces an approximately two-hour TV program showing the full concert and featuring interviews with the Nobel Laureates, soloists, conductor, etc. This program is broadcast direct in Sweden as well as distributed internationally, reaching a large audience. The concert is also radio broadcast through SR/EBU to around 20 countries.
